Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni: When I first met MANkind. KK: What was your first professional job? CCT: When MANkind was fooled enough to pay me. KK: Your first staring role was in DEMONS 2. What was it like working with Lamberto Bava? CCT: It was exciting, beautiful, terrifying, subliminal for my angst...thus I hope I brought honor to Bava's last name which in Italian means- drool/foam. KK: Was DEMONS 2 was the first time you really had to wear special makeup? How was that experience for you?
KK: How long did it take each day for it to be applied? CCT: 3 hours of ecstasy and torture. KK: Which was worst, getting it put on, or having it taken off? CCT: Well...it depended which make up artist was putting it on or taking it off. If he was kind with me...then taking it off, was liberating. If he was rough with me...then putting it on was great- for at that point, I was equipped well enough, to claw my revenge right into him. KK: Sergio Stivaletti was the make up artist, right? How was he to work with?
KK: Was it easier to get into character with all that makeup on? CCT: After Stivaletti's masterful tricks...Sally had no problem expressing her love to all. KK: What is your best memory from DEMONS 2? CCT: Transforming myself in front of Dario and Lamberto...and seeing them both excited and pleased. KK: What is your worst memory? CCT: A nightmare I had, on night of the day, I inclined my ribs shooting. KK: Your first film with Dario Argento was OPERA. How did that come about? CCT: Sally's Spells. They always work.
CCT: Giulia no longer has a larynx, and cannot answer that question. KK: What is your best memory from OPERA? CCT: One day when all the crows escaped their cages. They madly flew around the Opera house in terror. It was exhilarating. KK: What is your worst memory?
KK: In 1988, you made a film that you're not too happy about, EVIL CLUTCH. Tell us about that whole fiasco, and why it was such a bad memory. CCT: To say that I was not "too happy" about EVIL CLUTCH, is like saying that the citizens of Pompei were not "too happy" about Mount Vesuvio vomiting it's lava on them. I guess in that moment of my life I must have been as stupid, delirious, naive as Cindy was...to accept to work with an amateur director, that together with his "so called" girlfriend/producer lied and ripped not only me off, but most of the members on that movie. KK: Were there any good memories or experiences from that movie? CCT: Only one. The last day of shooting.
CCT: I will allow myself to say, it was based on the mutual respect and trust between Dario and I. High points? Well...seeing Anthony Perkins (guest on one episode) sitting in my dressing room on my own personal make up chair. Who would have ever imagined?!! Right? Low points? Anthony Perkins, robbing me of my dressing room and personal make up chair. Bless his soul. KK: Your next film with Argento was his remake of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, where you played the dresser of Asia Argento. How did that come about? CCT: It was more like an unheard of family reunion... One of those you cant wait to go to, and one of those, you wish you would never have to leave. KK: Best memory? CCT: Befriending a rat (I had even given him a name...but that must remain a secret). KK: Worst memory? CCT: His sudden death. KK: Had things changed in the Italian film industry since you made OPERA back in 1988?
KK: What are some of the current projects that you are working on? CCT: I say this often, but it is my truth. I love to act, but I am in love with music. I will be reforming a new band in NY, where I am soon to move. I might be doing a guest vocal on Necrofagia's next album. And a little secret project, that might interest many horror fans and non. But might take years to bring to life. It is now in embryonic stage. KK: What would be your dream project? CCT: Build a bonfire and destroy every tape of EVIL CLUTCH around. KK: Thanks for your time.
