Finally! After 6 years of doing these shows, I finally have something to complain about instead of just going on and on about how great these shows are. Ready? Here goes…. There were too many damn people walking around the whole weekend! Usually there might a few slow parts in the day, where I can get out from behind our table and walk around. But I didn’t get a chance to get out that much to see the Q&A’s or even get that many photos of the guests! There was hardly a time when there wasn’t a crowd of people moving around through the aisle, or standing in front of my table. Unfortunately it was because Xploited Cinema was at the table right across from us, so all I got to see were a lot of backsides! In all seriousness, the only complaint that I could say was that some of the guests, mainly Robert Quarry, didn’t have a Q&A session. Now whether or not some of these guests wanted to do a Q&A, I’m don’t know. But I do know that Mr. Quarry was more than happy to answer any questions you asked him while at his table. So I guess if that’s my only complaint, Ken and Pam, and the rest of the Wasteland crew, should be happy and proud to know that they put on another great show. While we always have fun, it seems this one even topped the normal amount. Like I told Ken over the weekend, this show is more like a family reunion / party. What a great way to have like-minded people get together and drink, watch movies, meet the guests, buy cool stuff, and have long and thought-provoking conversations with fellow fans….well, maybe not as much of that last part, but something like that.
And of course, how could we not mention Reggie Bannister, one of the nicest and friendliest, and just plain old down-to-the-earth kind of guy. Reggie is always a pleasure to sit and talk with, and always has some great stories. Hopefully we’ll get to see him kick some more PHANTASM-Ass in this new series/remake/sequels that’s kicking around. This time around, I think we spent less time watching movies than we normally do. We did catch most of KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS, which is a favorite of mine. But after a few minutes of THE CREMATORS, we decided to go back out in the bar and chat with some old friends, and made some new ones as well.
As we said, we weren’t able to get as many photos as we usually like to, but here are a few to show you what you might have missed. Hopefully we’ll see everyone again next year, as well as a few more!
