HORROR 101: THE A-LIST OF HORROR FILMS AND MONSTER MOVIES  VOL 1

FAMOUS QUOTES

"Comparisons would be pointless.  Obviously the technical advances in movie-making since the…30’s give the latter productions|
certain advantages over the originals.  But as films, they should be judged on their own merits.
"

- Peter Cushing on Hammer’s remake of THE MUMMY -

Pretty self-explanatory, isn’t it? We review a wide variety of films in the genre, both old and new films,
as well as old and new releases.
We also have our Review Archives which as all of our older reviews as well.

For over 20 years, we’ve been going to Horror Conventions. One of things we wanted to do when we started this site is to
review and report on these shows, with photos, letting those who might not be able to make it to them see what they missed.

This section was set up as a guide to some of the Sub-Genres out there. What’s a Sub-Genre, you ask?  How about Paul Naschy films?  Or even Spanish films in general?  Or what about Italian zombie films?  Our goal is to have a list of directors and films that we feel that should be required viewing in those sub-genres.  Most of them might be by country of origin, such as Spanish or Italian, but there will also be categories like Cannibal movies and the like.  So if you’re looking to get into an area that you’re not familiar with, check here and see if we can point you in the right direction.

This section was set up to help introduce readers to people who had a significant contribution
to the horror genre that might not get the recognition that we feel they deserve.

Again, kind of self-explanatory here.  We have interviews with actors, writers, directors, and more.  Check them out.

This is our Vincent Price Memorial Poster Gallery. We feature plenty of pics of great posters
from around the world and throughout movie history. Check them out.

This is our own Hall of Fame section. Here we highlight those that we feel had made a major impact to the genre.
Most of the names you’ll recognize.  The ones you don’t know...well that just means you need to do more studying.

This is where we like to point out all the intelligent ramblings of smart people. You know the ones who see the real meanings behind our favorite movies. Like that Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera is supposed to represent a deformed penis. Or that the shark from Jaws represents the dreaded vagina dentate. Whether or not we know the real meanings behind these films or not, we just like to point them out, since we think most of them are just plain crazy.

For all you Chicago area Horror Fans, this is your place to check what events are going on in the Chicagoland area.
We will do our best to keep this updated, so check back often to make your plans!
