HORROR 101: THE A-LIST OF HORROR FILMS AND MONSTER MOVIES  VOL 1

FAMOUS QUOTES

"Comparisons would be pointless.  Obviously the technical advances in movie-making since the…30’s give the latter productions|
certain advantages over the originals.  But as films, they should be judged on their own merits.

EXPERIMENT IN  TERROR
(How to Screw Dealers & Fans)
Sept. 2000

We originally were going to have a table there, but decided against it.  Mainly due to the fact that they were advertising guests that they didn't have.  When we first got their dealer package, they were advertising guests such as porn celebs like Ron Jeremy and Traci Lords, and other horror genre guests like Tom Savini, Jess Franco & Lina Romay, and not only Dario Argento, but also his daughter Asia.  Of course, these guest are all 'tentative".  As we've stated before, through another contact, we learned that Dario knew nothing about the show, let alone planned on being there.

But this was what the dealers and fans were told who would be the lineup.  Now they were advertising a lot of different authors and artists.  Whether or not they were there, I don't know.  But out of all the above people mentioned, Franco & Romay were they only ones who were there.
Why, you ask?  Simple.  To get dealers to pay for tables, and get the fans to come to the show.
"Is Argento here?", I asked when I got there, as I'm paying my $15 admission fee.
"Uhhh, sorry.  He couldn't make it.  He's working on  a new film.  But all the other guests are here."
    "So Traci Lords is here?"
    "Well . . . Uuhhh.  No."

"Ron Jeremy?"
    "No."
But Jess Franco and Lina Romay were there, and that was the main reason I was there.  They were both great, signing anything that you put in front of them, and most importantly, not charging a dime for an autograph!
If you are new to Franco and Romay's work, I would suggest starting out with either THE AWFUL DR. ORLOFF, FEMALE VAMPIRE or BARB WIRE DOLLS.  Of course there is also COUNT DRACULA, which stars Christopher Lee, Herbert Lom, Klaus Kinski, and Jack Taylor.  Enjoy the photos.
