The sad thing about the
horror genre is that even though its one of the oldest of the film
genres, not to mention one of the most profitable, it still doesn't get the credit that
it deserves. Working in this genre, there are great actors, directors, production designers,
makeup men, and many more, that have created great moments in film. But
other than us horror film fans, some of them are pretty much forgotten.
Our main goal with this page is to pay tribute to those
people. Some of the them you may have heard of. And some not.
But each one of these names listed, we feel has made a great contribution to the
genre. It might be a huge contribution, or a small one. But no
matter the size, it was one that made an impact on us.
So please check out each of the people we have listed here.
Just click on their names to be taken to their specific page. If there is
a name here that you don't know, then I strongly suggest you check out that
tribute page and look into more of this person's work. Who knows, maybe
it's just the type of film you were looking for.

PAUL BLAISDELL
- Paul Blaisdell was the creator of some of the great monsters of the early AIP
monster movies. He created the monsters from films like IT CONQUERED THE
WORLD and INVASION OF THE SAUCERMEN, and many more. Blaisdell's talent and
hard work made up for the lack of any real money he had to give birth to these
aliens and monsters.
But for some reason, Blaisdell's name is not that well known.
Only to die hard fans of those types of movies. So for those out there
that do not know the work of this incredibly talented artist, now is your
chance. And because of Blaisdell's contributions to the world of monsters,
We Salute You!
PETER
CUSHING - Truly, the Gentleman of Horror. Not only was Cushing a
brilliant actor, but also loved working in the genre. He knew what his
fans wanted, and was more than happy to give it to them.
Whether it was his many films with Hammer Studios, or any of
the countless other films that Cushing appeared in, you knew when you seen his
name in the credits that you were going to get some entertainment value from it.
One of the main reasons that we have added Cushing to our
tribute page here is that he had no problem working in the genre. He
wasn't worried about being type-cast, as long as he was working. And for
that, We Salute You!

HAMMER STUDIOS
-
Hammer Studios made entertaining films.
Not all of their films were classics, or even great films. But they were, and
still are today, entertaining. And I think one of the main reasons for this was that
Hammer always had the great fortune of having talented people working for them.
Whether they were actors in front of the camera, directors calling “Action”, or
the makeup men trying to figure out how they are suppose to make the next effect
work, these were people devoted to their craft and did their best. And
sometimes, their best was incredible.
So for all of those people that helped created the films that
Hammer did, from the actors, makeup crew, production designers, lighting,
cameramen, and everyone else, We Salute You!

BORIS KARLOFF
- One of the first true "horror stars", and most memorable. The name
Karloff is synonymous with monsters. But no term could be farther from the
truth when you're talking about the man, Boris Karloff.
Karloff had been a struggling actor for many years before
getting his big break as the title character in James Whale's classic film.
And while Karloff may be known for the most part for his roles in the horror
genre, that didn't stop him from working in many other areas. From radio
programs, to the stage, Karloff worked all the time.
But even after at the end of his life, when he was still be
referred to Frankenstein's monster some 35+ years later, he still had no bad
feelings or regrets of that role. As he said, he's "very grateful to him,
to the monster".
So to a great actor, who embraced his role (actually many
roles) in the horror genre, We Salute You!

HERSCHELL GORDON
LEWIS - Sure, the films of H.G. Lewis may not be on the same caliber of the
films of these other people here that we are saluting. But the reason that
Lewis in here is for what he did. And that was basically gave birth to the
gore film.
For the films that he created, with no no money, no real cast
and crew, but came up with films so memorable and shocking at the time, that he
started a new sub-genre of films. Not to mention that they're pretty damn
entertaining. And for that, We Salute You!
PAUL
NASCHY - Here is another actor that is somewhat of a cult actor, with not a
lot of newer horror fans knowing who he is, or his work. But now with more
and more of his work hitting DVDs, it gives a whole new generation a chance to
discover the work of Paul Naschy.
For all those actors that are so afraid of being type cast as
a "horror actor", Paul Naschy was one that strived for that. He made
horror movies because he loved horror movies. Naschy's films were made
with passion. Bringing back the monsters from the Universal films that he
grew up on, and creating even more, we've always found his film entertaining.
And for that, not to mention the countless hours of
entertainment, We Salute You!
VINCENT
PRICE - The first "horror actor" that I knew by name. And if you
didn't know his name, then you probably knew his voice. Price was another
actor that is mainly known for his work in the horror genre, even though he
worked more outside of it than in. But that didn't bother him. His
work in the genre let him divulge in his other passions, namely art collecting
and cooking.
But even when he could have made a career out of either of
those two passions, he continued to work in the horror genre, giving us fans
many great movies to watch over and over again. And for those reason, We
Salute You!
