Last night we headed into the Chicago heat for the Terror in the Aisles 6 Film Fest at the Portage Theater. With the temps topping 90 degrees, not even including the heat index, let's just say that it was hot. But that didn't seem to stop horror fans from coming out to another great event.
But for me, the work that I know John Harrison from was from his work as a composer, and the incredible soundtrack he did from Romero's CREEPSHOW. Even today, it is still one of my all time favorite scores. He nailed the feel and the style for that movie. Making if fun and scary, just like the movie itself. They were also playing CREEPSHOW at the fest as well. They also had some of Clive Barker's artwork on display in the lobby. If you have seen his artwork in print or online, it does not do the same justice as when you see it standing in front of you. It really is incredible. This piece that we took a photo of was probably 5 to 6 feet tall and was just incredible the way the colors just leaped off the canvas. Even from across the lobby, you could still see how bright and vibrant it was. It was nice to see a lot of the usual Chicago horror fans coming out for these film fests, as well as our fellow dealers that came out and braved the heat. Setting up in the lobby could always be a guessing game on just how hot and muggy it might be. It wasn't terrible, but it was still hot enough. But people still came out to enjoy the movies, so that was great. Kudos to Movieside for putting on another great show and looking forward to the next one. JOHN HARRISON
